You are experiencing the highs and lows of life and find yourself being thrown around without the ability to manage it. Stress, overwhelm, disappointment and responsibilities have led to extreme coping patterns. You are using drugs and/or alcohol to find relief. This works, but only temporarily because it is causing upset in your relationships, at work, maybe with the legal system and with yourself. It has gone from an occasional indulgence to a consistent means of expression (to celebrate, to decompress, to manage emotions, because you worked hard, etc). You want to learn to manage life without these addictive patterns. I am a masters level trained addiction clinician with over 20 years of experience. I work with a variety of populations and backgrounds. My approach is a person centered, strength based, CBT approach. I have worked in community mental health, the recovery community (peer support) and currently as a supervisor in state government. I will help you identify the solutions to free yourself from patterns of addiction. I firmly believe that addiction is a symptom to a problem and not the problem itself. We have the ability to redirect with exploration, connection, information and motivation. I will meet you where you are, and together, we will find your path forward.
