Child and family therapy is a valuable tool. After over 24 years in the field, I've started a practice Counseling Parents and Grandparents, specifically. Insurance will cover this the same as any other counseling appointment. I have specialties in parenting children, teens and adults with ADHD, Autism, Gifted, FASD and children who have experienced Adoption, Divorce and Death and Trauma. I have moved to Quest Counseling and Wellness. I’ve started scheduling clients and have a few open spaces. I offer education and support to parents of children with complex conditions. Filial Therapy, Theraplay and Emotion Focused Therapy help in relationship work. Contingency parenting and other behavioral approaches offer a non conflictual approach to discipline. Mindfulness Stress Reduction and Self Compassion calm parental worry and anxiousness. We have never had more challenging times for families. I am a parent of three adult children, one adopted at birth by the grace of his family, and a past foster parent. Practicing new behaviors, allowing time for learning to develop and patience while the the changes impact the relationship lead to an increased sense of capacity and restore joy.
