You're not sick or broken. What's broken is a world that normalizes abuse, discrimination, and unrealistic standards. Most of my clients come to therapy thinking there's something wrong with them for feeling sad, scared, angry, and disconnected, when in reality, these feelings are natural, nonpathological reactions to difficult situations. While we can't control what happened in the past or even some of what's going on around us now, what we can learn is new ways of responding to stress and thinking about ourselves and our circumstances. I'll be honest: My approach to therapy isn't easy or fast, but it builds a foundation for lasting change, not just quick symptom reduction. You can't treat a stab wound with a Band-Aid. With that said, I know seeking therapy can be scary, especially when you're in distress. I never push clients to share too much before they're ready. Therapy is a big emotional, financial, and time commitment, so I ask prospective clients to schedule a free 10-20 min. consultation call to make sure we're a good match. I know reaching out to a therapist is a vulnerable step, so I commit to honoring your effort by responding to as quickly as I can. (I promise I won't ghost you!)
