Do you experience unwelcomed thoughts that you try to ignore without much success? Do you feel imprisoned by intrusive images in your mind? Do you worry excessively about something bad happening to someone you love if you do not perform some kind of ritual? Do you avoid things like kitchen knives, public restrooms, children? Unwelcomed thoughts can manifest themselves in many forms beyond just excessive handwashing or checking stove knobs. Fortunately, there are evidence-based treatments available to effectively treat Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or OCD, a condition that affects as many as 7,000,000 people in the U.S. alone. As your therapist, I strive to find the optimum balance between focused and structured treatment and being present and empathic with you. As someone who once struggled with OCD personally, I understand the fear, isolation, and shame that can accompany it. I specialize in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for the treatment of OCD and other anxiety disorders. The most effective evidenced-based treatments for OCD are: 1) Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and (2) Inference-Based Therapy (I-CBT). For tics, it is CBIT. I integrate treatment with an interpersonal style that is collaborative, open, and non-judgmental. I would be honored to join you in your therapeutic journey towards a more fulfilling life.
