Therapists » Clinical Social Work/Therapist
I started my clinical career at McLean Hospital as a therapist in a variety of roles including inpatient unit, partial program, and outpatient clinic. I spent 15 years there working with adults who were struggling with substance use, mood and anxiety, and trauma-related disorders. In my 11 years of private practice, I've also enjoyed the opportunity to work with couples and families who struggle with communication, family systems dynamics, conflict resolution, and supporting family members struggling with mental health diagnoses. It's a privilege to be able to work with my patients and I truly love what I do. I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities with a focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I am additionally certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD. I believe that a successful therapeutic relationship is based on collaboration, empathic support, and trust. My style is engaging and warm, but I will gently challenge when it is helpful and am not afraid to add a dose of humor if needed. We all have the capacity for change, but sometimes we need a little guidance to foster this and to know that it's okay.
