About

“You’re a person, not a diagnosis.” That phrase appears on my website and my business cards because it goes to the heart of my philosophy about therapy. While diagnoses may be helpful for medical treatments, you’re a person with real hopes, dreams, fears, and problems. Listening with respect is the beginning of our relationship, and I engage in “active listening” – asking questions for clarification, and making connections to a person’s past. Together, we’ll identify the issues facing you. Then, we’ll map out a plan to deal with those issues. In this way, I often serve as a life coach in addition to being a therapist.

I’m an “involved” counselor. I offer alternative ways to look at a problem. I give advice based on my 35 years of experience. I suggest books for you. Sometimes, I even give homework in the form of an exercise for you to complete. I’ve written a booklet titled “Fighting Fair” (available on Amazon), which helps people work through their conflicts.

I provide sessions via secure telehealth to adolescents, adults, and families who are Georgia residents. My specialties include relationships in crisis, depression, anxiety, grief counseling, major illness and caretaking, and transgender issues. I accept most insurances and EAPs. I also provide a sliding scale for Medicare patients.
