Therapists » Clinical Social Work/Therapist
With 20 years experience in the human service realm, and 12 years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Psychotherapist, I have come to believe that what is most essential in therapy is the therapist-client connection. The first step is to develop a positive, mutually respectful working relationship. Typically, I meet with you 2-3 times during which we discuss what is going on. This will help us get to know each other, and understand the basis for our work moving forward including your goals, frequency, fees, and other questions/concerns you may have. I strongly believe in the uniqueness of an individual, and do not subscribe to a one-size-fits-all approach. The guiding tenets of my work include authenticity, compassion, and creating a safe environment needed for deep healing and lasting change. I use a customized eclectic approach of research based theories including: humanistic, psychodynamic, and CBT. There is only so much you can learn by reading about a therapist. Meeting in person is crucial in determining if we are a good match. You are in the driver's seat throughout this process, as I believe each individual has the ability to navigate their lives in a direction that best suits them. Every person has an innate resilience and capacity to change!
