Clients I work with often struggle with negative self-talk, unhealthy emotional responses and relational difficulties, to name a few. Clients need someone who is willing to listen in an attentive, empathic, nonjudgmental, manner. Oftentimes, clients are looking for someone to empathize with their feelings and experiences while gently encouraging insight. Clients tend to want a collaborative approach where their views are respected and honored. I specialize in the earliest form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy called Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy. REBT helps clients identify irrational thinking which largely contributes to distressed feelings and dysfunctional behaviors. Clients learn how to identify absolutistic self talk (e.g. Should, must, have to, never, always) and then to dispute them. I invite you to work collaboratively with me to uncover negative thinking which blocks self acceptance as well as accepting others and life itself. Together we will explore strategies you can implement in your life to increase positive thoughts and feelings. Please reach out to discuss how I may be of help to you.
