About

My primary focus is serving: 1) Clients who are wanting to reprocess their traumatic memories utilizing EMDR and/or sandtray therapy, 2) Gay and lesbian identified clients, 3) Gender diverse clients (i.e. transgender, gender-fluid, genderqueer, gender-nonconforming, gender non-binary, etc), 4) Individuals who are exploring their sexual and/or gender identities, 5) Clients who are exploring and/or deconstructing their religious identities, and 6) Couples who are seeking a structured approach to therapy utilizing the Gottman method. I specialize in trauma informed care (including EMDR) and have also been trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy through the Gay Couples Institute in San Francisco, CA. Additionally, I co-authored an article in 2022 for the Journal of Gay and Lesbian Mental Health regarding the mental health of trans and gender nonconforming adults in rural America.

Alexander Leon, LGBTQ+ activist, says that we often "grow up playing a version of ourselves that sacrifices authenticity to minimize humiliation & prejudice...the massive task of our adult lives is to unpick which parts of ourselves are truly us & which parts we've created to protect us." My hope in therapy is to help you reconnect with your authentic self.
