Marty Tamkin, Ph.D., LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, who has been practicing psychotherapy since 2004 and has been fully licensed since 2008. Dr. Tamkin has a Ph.D. from Capella University, a master s degree in marriage and family therapy from Phillips Graduate Institute, and a bachelor s degree in social work from California State University, Los Angeles. He is actively licensed in Wisconsin, as well as in California, and only sees clients through a telehealth platform. Marty is trained in several different psychotherapy approaches. One integrative approach incorporates a belief that we relate to ourselves, others, and our environments through filters of our past and present life experiences that interact with our neurobiology. By providing safe, non-judgmental spaces with empathetic understanding and reflection, Marty helps clients experience new understandings of themselves, others. Dr. Tamkin assists people working through anxiety, trauma, grief, and challenging life situations/transitions. Marty has practiced psychotherapy in many different settings including family foster care, major mental illness residential treatment, state prison corrections on a mental health unit, private practice, community mental health, etc.
