Specializing in couples therapy, I offer a unique coaching-style approach to relationship healing. While couples often seek therapy citing communication problems, these difficulties are typically symptoms of deeper underlying conflicts. When partners bring their individual needs into a relationship, these needs can clash in fundamental ways. As tensions build and partners begin blaming each other, communication breaks down. The heart of couples therapy lies in uncovering both our own unfulfilled expectations and understanding those of our partner. We all carry our individual history into relationships, sometimes unconsciously expecting our partners to heal unresolved wounds from our past. When these expectations go unmet, feelings of anger, contempt, blame, and dissatisfaction can emerge. If you and your partner are experiencing these challenges, I'm here to help. Psychotherapy with a coach approach is also beneficial for other relationships that are fractured and frayed. If your relations with family and friends are difficult or ruptured, here is a safe place to work it all out. The emotional layers of anger, shame and grief can be gently exposed and softened to bring understanding and empathy for each other’s pain.
