I have been in practice for over 22 years and have worked in a variety of settings including private practice, a medical setting and several university counseling centers. I have extensive training in working with women's issues, Eating Disorders and trauma/PTSD and am trained in the use of EMDR. I have experience with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, sexual abuse/assault, divorce and self-esteem issues. In addition to individual therapy, I provide limited types of psychological assessment. Prior to receiving my Ph.D. I was a Special Education teacher for 11 years and have taught at the university level for over 20 years in the areas of Eating Disorders, Ethics, the practice of therapy, Supervision, and Psychopathology and Diagnosis. I also co-authored a book chapter on the Treatment of Eating Disorders. I have a therapy dog named Bleu who accompanies me daily. Golden Retrievers are loving, compassionate and playful and have the perfect temperament for this work. Bleu helps clients open up to the therapeutic process and he creates a welcoming, safe (and at times, playful) atmosphere.
