Therapists » Clinical Social Work/Therapist
My goal is to empower each person to discover his or her inner strengths and to live life as fully as possible. Through the therapeutic process you will gain a stronger sense of self and learn effective coping skills which are necessary to deal with the ongoing challenges and transitions that life brings to all of us. I use a variety of interventions including CBT - cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR - eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, MSC - mindful self compassion, and supportive counseling. My specialty area is anxiety, and I also see people with depression, ADHD, problems associated with anger, stress, conflict, grief and loss. When working with adults, I begin by assessing for strengths and discovering obstacles to well-being. We then work together to find the tools and strategies that work best for each individual. I draw heavily on the field of art therapy in my work with younger clients who often do not have the vocabulary to describe or explain what is troubling them. Thoughts and feelings which are sometimes hard to express in words can often be expressed in images.
