My approach is to help my patients both resolve the issues they bring to my office and help them become more able to prevent or minimize the recurrence of these issues. And, often what people can not see in themselves defeats their genuine attempts to change their lives. My strengths are helping people both see and deal with what really gets in the way of their achieving substantial change. The mind/emotions are often like icebergs- only a small amount is above water to be seen-yet much is unseen and can lead to great damage( a failure to change). I specialize in the following areas: people who have tried multiple treatments without relief; addictions- alcohol/drugs, sex, relationship, eating, gambling; adolescents/young adults who are self-destructive or act stuck or broken (school/job failures,conduct disorders,alcohol/drug abuse,cutting/burning,eating disorders); serious personality problems; depression; anxiety. Private practice since 1984, excellent advanced training, and supervision of hundreds of other counselors patients have contributed to my success. But, I believe my faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation of any success I have experienced. I welcome people of faith and those involved in 12 Step programs.
