Beginning therapy is such a brave thing to do. Congratulations on taking this first step. I hope that we can create a space for you that feels supportive and encouraging. A saying that I hear often in sessions is “I’m so broken”, but my experience tells me that couldn’t be further from the truth. It is human nature to try to get our needs met and do the best we can in the moment. So often we are not reacting to things because we are broken, we are reacting because we are simply smart. In therapy we honor those parts and learn new ways of coping that align with your goals and desires. I utilize a blend of therapeutic techniques to meet the needs of each individual. I am trained in EMDR and Motivational Interviewing, and work from an existential and social justice lens. I received a Masters degree in Community Counseling from Seattle University, and have worked in community mental health for the last eight years. This is a space for everyone. I have found through my experience that when we feel safe and empowered we show up authentically in our relationships, ask for what we need, and set healthy boundaries. I would love to be your advocate and help you discover a kinder, gentler, more joyful way to care for yourself.
