Do you ever feel like nobody truly understands you? Are your issues so overwhelming that it is hard to find hope? You are not alone, I promise. I am Lara, a mental health counseling intern from Johns Hopkins University. It is my passion to work collaboratively with people to empower them to skillfully cope with their current stressors and better understand and manage their thoughts, feelings, and actions. I see therapy as an opportunity to harness strengths and work towards building a life that aligns with your values, beliefs, and dreams. It is about taking a small step everyday doing what you believe in, deep in your heart. I take a holistic approach to counseling implementing techniques from acceptance and commitment therapy, emotion-focused therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and existential therapy, through a person-centered lens. I support patients struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, healing from trauma, breakups, and divorce, among other challenge. A little bit about myself: I was born and raised in Brazil. Beyond clinical work, I enjoy cooking, rock climbing, spending quality time with loved ones, finding new coffee shops, and relaxing in nature with a good book. If you wish to connect with me, please reach out to The Institute for HEALing at (410) 864-0211.
