Along with the clinical team at Charleston DBT Associates, I offer comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for both adult and adolescent clients. DBT brings together Eastern Mindfulness techniques and Western clinical principles to create behavioral change in a warm therapeutic environment. DBT is the transaction between Zen contemplative practice and behavior therapy, held together with a dialectical philosophy. This dialectical stance works to find what is adaptive in even the most maladaptive behaviors, to assist clients in creating the emotional and behavioral changes needed to build a life worth living. With a collaborative treatment style grounded in evidenced based practice, I work intently in sessions to balance acceptance and change, the most fundamental dialectic in DBT. Each session demonstrating accountability, engagement, intuition, and a down to earth nature as I develop strong therapeutic relationships based on genuineness and acceptance. My training has included exposure to a variety of settings both locally and abroad allowing me to work with a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, personality disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, sex work related issues, substance use, impulsive behavior, and trauma.
