Trauma impacts and resides in both your brain and body. If left untreated, trauma can manifest in your life in a variety of challenging ways. Your ability to trust and build satisfying relationships may have been impacted. You may frequently feel overwhelmed and as if your experiences and relationships are hard, scary, and confusing. It may feel difficult to relax and focus. Therapy is an opportunity to gain the insight and awareness that is required in order to effectively address trauma and resolve it. Validating your experiences and offering a safe space to consider effective ways of coping and managing the impact is my focus. I have diverse and extensive experience working with adults and adolescents who have experienced trauma. I am trained in EMDR and certified in DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). I also have extensive experience working with families and am trained in Triple P (Positive Parenting Program). I use a trauma informed approach and view your experiences from a person centered perspective. You matter and are the most important person in the therapeutic relationship. I value connection and relationship, as well as trust, which is important to the healing process and the therapeutic relationship. I'm easy going and like to use lay person language.
