I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in work with individuals and couples. I have a small private practice and I am a faculty counselor, consultant, and educator at San José State University. I believe each person has a unique and important story to tell. As a psychologist, I work to create a trusting environment in which to tell that story and through the process, help my clients discover solutions to problems, acceptance of the past, and hope for the future. My approach emphasizes a combination of cognitive and behavioral skills, including mindfulness, acceptance, and interpersonal skills training, with a focus on concrete behavioral change. As therapy is a financial investment, I believe it is important to focus on treatment approaches that have been shown to work. I also incorporate exploration and consideration of culture and diversity into treatment. My past clinical training and experience has allowed me to become competent to work respectfully and effectively with people who have various cultural, ethnic, and racial backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities, beliefs, and life circumstances.
