10 years previous experience working with pregnant and parenting women in residential treatment for addiction recovery, specializing in relapse prevention, and co-occurring mental health issues. My focus was on helping these women to understand their family of origin issues and how they had impacted their lives so profoundly in unhealthy ways. Through psychoeducation in individual and group counseling, we worked on increasing self-worth, developing sober emotional coping skills, self-advocacy skills, and self-empowerment. Now in private practice 5 years, I focus on psychoeducation for addressing trauma history and related issues. While my specialty is chemical dependency and related issues, I focus on each client as a unique individual, with unidentified strengths and positive qualities. My approach is client-informed and solution-focused, using cognitive behavioral, narrative, and solution-focused therapies, as well as teaching mindfulness techniques and healthy life skills. If you're in recovery from addiction, utilizing medication assisted treatment, or just need someone to talk to about sorting out your problems or relationships, you've come to the right counselor. I offer both short- and long-term therapy, and will help you find your inner happiness and become empowered to advocate successfully for yourself.
