Karen’s approach is humanistic in nature and strongly rooted in cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy approaches (CBT and DBT). She also draws on mindfulness-based training and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to offer concrete skills and practical strategies in areas such as emotion regulation, distress tolerance, boundary setting, effective communication, positive self-talk, values clarification and assertiveness. Karen is certified in Family- Based therapy (FBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceleration Resolution Therapy (ART). Karen has expertise in anxiety disorders, shame based challenges, teen struggles, life transitions, relationship conflict and eating disorders including the treatment of anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder and orthorexia subtypes.
