I've worked with folks on making changes and improving mental health for over 20 years, and I've learned two main things: no one's life is perfect and everyone's got room for growth. So why therapy? There are times when you find yourself in the same frustrating or painful situation, or when you just want to make a change but don't know how - therapy can help. With my training and experience - as a therapist, a crisis hotline supervisor, an HIV test counselor, a substance use counselor, an HIV prevention group leader - I can help you figure out the issues and getting through tough times. My goal is creating a therapeutic relationship built on trust, safety and communication. I have worked deeply with the LGBTQ communities, communities of color, and folks who are HIV-positive, HIV-negative or unsure of their status. I draw from diverse clinical models including psychodynamic / psychoanalytic work and change-based work like harm reduction. The key to change is understanding the issues and gathering the resources to identify and take steps towards change. With my experience and compasion, I can help to facilitate your process towards achieving your goals in life and becoming more fulfilled. I look forward to hearing from you.
