Therapists » Clinical Social Work/Therapist
It has been pointed out to me by clients, colleagues, family and friends that they find it easy to talk to me. It is not uncommon for strangers to share there challenges and successes with me after a few words of casual conversation. If I were to list what I thought allows me to build rapport so easily, I would have to say that I believe it is because people are able to sense that I care about them genuinely. As a therapist, I care about seeing each one of my clients reach the goals that they set for themselves. I am an ordained minister, licensed clinical social worker and Veteran with over 20 years of experience in mental health and human services. My wife Tonya and I have been married for 27 years and we have two adult children: Darius (26) and Danyelle (22). I enjoy assisting individuals, couples, and families as they overcome life's challenges . It is my belief that everybody has a perspective that is real to them and valid. I have learned to value empathy for others. "Have you walked a mile in another's shoes" is a quote that is often made. It paints the picture of the power of empathy. I have learned over my years in mental health and corrections to listen well to the stories that people share.
