My name is John Gianforte. I am a licensed professional counselor, and licensed marriage and family therapist in Louisiana. My graduate degree is in clinical psychology. I am in full-time private practice in Shreveport Louisiana. My career path has been diverse, and includes serving as the administrator and clinical director of a state and federally funded non-profit mental health clinic, legislative and legal advocacy for mental health services, and developing expertise in forensic mental health, hypnotherapy, and evidence based counseling interventions. I work from an ecosystemic perspective by using an approach to therapy that emphasizes the interaction between the individual or family and larger social contexts, such as school, career, workplace, and personal relationships, and derives from diverse fields, including psychology, social psychology, sociology, anthropology, economics, and political science. If you are looking for balance between work, marriage/family, finding that significant other, dealing with the expectations of your family of origin, and mental health/substance use issues,I very much look forward to helping you embark on that journey.
