About

Hello! My name is Joanna and thank you for reading my profile. I provide individual and family therapy to clients of most ages (5 and older). Prior to working as a therapist, I was a special education teacher. Working as a teacher taught me the importance of a trusting relationship. I love working as a therapist and my favorite part is the unique relationship I build with each client. It is through this trusting, judgement-free relationship that clients can feel safe to self-examine. I work side by side with clients to explore the root causes of unhelpful behaviors and identify a better way of relating to oneself and others.

I use a variety of evidence-based techniques, including trauma focused approaches such as EMDR, to help clients employ strengths they already possess and achieve the change they desire in their lives. When necessary, I am direct and able to guide clients towards self-discovery and new perspectives that result in a deeper understanding of oneself and others.

The insight gained from working with an empathetic and skilled therapist can be pivotal and the rewards earned far outweigh the occasional discomforts. I know this to be true from my own experience as a client. Everyone deserves the rewards therapy brings and I hope to hear from you soon.
