Knox Christian Counseling specializes in treating women ages 5 and up that are looking for trauma-informed Christian counseling. A traumatic experience can be anything that has been emotionally difficult to endure. Some examples may be physical abuse, sexual abuse, domestic violence, school violence, divorce, death, disruption in your living environment, homelessness, or witnessing someone else experience a trauma. These experiences can cause feelings of worthlessness, hopelessness, guilt, depression, anxiety, avoidance and nightmares. Carrying on with your day to day life becomes difficult. Primarily utilizing the teachings from the Bible, we will connect the dots between what you are going through, what the scriptures say, and your relationship with Jesus Christ. I also utilize clinical skills with specific therapeutic modalities such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy), and Trauma-focused CBT. Someone once told me that finding the perfect counselor is like finding your favorite pair of jeans.
