I am a therapist with ADHD, so I love working with clients who have ADHD. I think our similar brains strengthen our understanding of each other and therefore our therapeutic connection. I will never tell you to just “try harder” or “buy a planner” or other things that neurotypicals have said to you (although I do love some good office supplies). Everyone with ADHD is different and deserves personalized exploration of their needs and barriers to help manage symptoms and achieve functioning goals. I also love working with couples who have ADHD, including mixed neurotype couples who are working to better understand one another. I take a systemic and relationship-based approach to therapy. My training is in systems theory, which states that individuals develop, change, and make meaning out of their lives through interactions and relationships with others. I seek to get to know my clients on a deep level to provide a safe space for exploring their unique experiences and perspectives. I highly value anti-racism, anti-oppression, and feminism in my approach. I work to challenge harmful narratives in our culture while working with clients to find and live their true values. To support this, I like to integrate interventions from other theories including feminist theory and intersectionality to create a treatment plan personalized to you.
