I specialize in treating young adults and adult women who are struggling with anxiety, self-esteem, depression, grief, and life transitions, including issues related to the experience of motherhood, parenting, and midlife (such as menopause). While I tailor treatment to each individual, I often use components from Attachment theory, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness to help break unhelpful patterns, connect with inner resources, and build the life you desire. My approach is collaborative, and I enjoy sharing relevant articles, books, and other resources in session. I have significant interest in maternal mental health. I specialize in supporting women who may be experiencing perinatal/postpartum anxiety and depression or who are otherwise having difficulty adjusting to the experience of motherhood. My research on this topic was published in The Journal of Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and Health in 2015. I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and, prior to pursuing counseling, worked as a journalist in New York City. I earned a Master of Arts in Counseling degree from Eastern Mennonite University in 2014. I currently live in the city of Charlottesville with my husband and two daughters.
