I am clinical psychologist specializing in work with tweens, teens, young adults, adults, and their parents. While I am intensively trained in both DBT and CBT, I truly believe in an individual approach. Basically I believe in doing what works best for each client. I have an open, honest and straightforward approach. I see my role as working with individuals to help them help themselves. I believe listening is a key component in really understanding the experiences, challenges, and issues that each client presents with. I believe in an interactive approach. I value the therapeutic alliance. I am a published author, writer, and consultant to the media on tween, teen, and young adult issues. I co-authored the book Teenage as a Second Language (Adams Media 2010) which focused on helping parents understand what their teens were really trying to say. I also have experience as the director of a large inpatient adolescent psychiatric unit. As such I have worked with individuals in acute states carrying a large variety of diagnosis and dealing with a multitude of traumatic situations and symptoms.
