My name is Jayla Alvarez. I'm a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who currently practices in Fresno, California. I tend to work from a collaborative approach as I believe that my clients are the experts in their lives. I also believe it is imperative to create a safe space as I support my clients through processing and healing from issues that are causing impairments in their lives. My goal is to help my clients become autonomous, increase self-awareness, gain skills to cope with stressors and find purpose in their lives. I have experience in working with young children, adolescents, and adults through mandated services, community-based services, and school-based services. At this time, I am hoping to focus my treatment on working with adolescents and adults. I aim to establish a safe and non-judgmental environment for clients to process their concerns. I also tend to be direct about observations and provide input, although I believe it is ultimately the client's decision to utilize the therapist's suggestions.
