I would not say that I have an ideal client. I strive to meet my clients wherever they are at and go at the pace set by each client, as I believe that my clients know best about what they need and how to get there. My role is that of helping them untangle all of the thoughts and things that have gotten them to where they are and help them untangle them so that they can "see through the tangled mess" and I can help them formulate a path out. I hold a strong belief that each client I work with is the expert on their own lives. I love helping my clients become aware of their own ability to work through difficult experiences. I feel joy when a client trusts me with their greatest pain and I can provide a respite, if only for a brief while. I believe that we all are doing the best we can, but sometimes we need to employ novel measures such as counseling to help us gain insight into our issues and skills to cope with them. My main goals with clients are always to help them not need me and to assist them in gaining trust in their own abilities to work through the problems that life presents them.
