Beginning counseling or job coaching is an important life decision and a clear sign of one’s underlying health and resiliency. I find, more often than not, that people can be helped to release a level of optimism and resiliency that leads them to new, “do-able” goals and choices. All of this reflects a natural foundation of health, even when we experience such common challenges as depression, conflicts at work, fears, ongoing stress or anxiety. Counseling requires some risk-taking. It also takes a willingness to become more self-aware. Finding the best match in a psychologist or coach is an important first step in the process. I believe that both the therapist and the client must feel comfortable with one another, and recognize each other’s attitudes. A trusting, private, respectful, and confidential relationship is a significant ingredient for reaching a successful outcome. After three decades working as a psychologist and career coach, I know that it is critical to maintain a practical and collaborative partnership with my clients; always acknowledging their individuality, creativity, health and personal beliefs. I specialize in helping clients work on their ongoing grief and loss issues.
