I work best with those who are wanting to understand themselves and their emotions, behaviors, and thoughts, as well as willing to get experimental and try new ways of doing and thinking about things. I work to listen carefully to help my clients feel heard and understood. I find that most, if not all, (including myself) people come to therapy, on the most basic level, because they are feeling miserable (a variety of unpleasant emotions). By understanding the relationship between emotions, thoughts and behaviors, and then changing behaviors and thought patterns as needed, we can create a much more positive emotional experience. I have worked the most with anxiety, life transition, identity, self trust, and relationship skills struggles. While I have training in CBT, DBT, Daring way interventions, IFS, and mindfulness-informed interventions, I have integrated principles from these and other modalities into a framework with which I tailor according to individual need. For me therapy was the bravest journey I've taken. Making the choice to engage in therapy for many feels an act of desperation or extreme need, which is perhaps in part because it requires looking inside and at our actions, and this can be quite a scary thing to do.
