Dr. Whaley has over 10 years of experience providing psychotherapy and psychological assessment services to children, adolescents, and adults within schools, mental health clinics, and hospitals. She specializes in addressing issues related to attachment, trauma, emotional and behavioral problems, and academic achievement. Some of the therapeutic approaches that inform her clinical work include cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based practices, strengths-based, solution-focused, and relational approaches. Dr. Whaley has an extensive research background studying the effects of trauma on development. In the areas of parent-child attachment relationships, child abuse and neglect, academic achievement, developmental psychopathology, children and families' responses to disasters, and the effects of deployment and combat injuries on military children and families.
