“I’m so sad.” “I’m stuck.” “I’m lonely.” “I hate my life.” “I’m nervous about everything.” If these sentiments sound familiar, you have just taken the first step toward change. I have specialized training in the treatment of anxiety, depression, and complex trauma. I have unique experience in treating men and women with relationship issues as well as those contemplating, or in the process of, divorce. I have worked extensively with religiously observant individuals of the Catholic and Jewish faith, negotiating the tension between modern contemporary life and religious practice. I have been in practice for over 20 years treating adolescents, adults and couples. Before starting a private practice, I worked in a variety of settings including NYC hospital inpatient and outpatient units. Empathy, expertise and warmth are what I offer patients who are seeking help. A little humor helps too! It is truly brave to begin the process of psychotherapy because it takes motivation and strength to break out of dysfunctional patterns of behavior, that while comfortable, often lead to pain and dissatisfaction. In my years of practice, I recognize that when one is in distress it takes guts to recognize that one would benefit from professional help.
