Therapists » Clinical Social Work/Therapist
The reasons people don't seek therapy are complex. For many, therapy exists within the very systems that have harmed them, yet practices (& therapists) often ignore these truths when they ask individuals to “take charge” of and “own responsibility” for the distress and trauma in their lives without that broader understanding, or worse, from a place of privilege or toxic positivity. My ideal client is ready to engage deeply and authentically. My approach is empathetic and meets that authenticity with accountability, radical honesty, and a commitment to the work of healing. View 8 Photos The ability to hold space for traumatic experiences means embracing complexity as a means to grow and improve self-awareness in order to shift the way you walk in the world, while rooting that journey in an anti-oppressive (harm reducing) framework. I use EMDR, storytelling, community, connection to land, mindfulness, and the arts as vehicles for healing. I hold space for the power of telling our stories while understanding that for some people healing needs to start not with talking but deeper, inside the body or spirit. Healing is a calling that has led me to explore my own multicultural ways of healing. Are you ready? If so, welcome, bienvenida/o/e/x, & mabrika!
