If you tell yourself: “I can’t keep living like this,” we'll be a good fit. I specialize in individuals, couples, and families who've been impacted by suicidal thoughts and related concerns, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and identity-related stress (gender, sexual orientation, ethnic/racial). These people are cycle-breakers who want to change old family patterns; stonecatchers who try to protect others from mistreatment because they know how it feels; or those who are simply tired of feeling “just ok.” Ultimately I blend the nerdy science of psychology with humility and humor to support you in building a more meaningful life. With individuals, I use mindfulness-based approaches (e.g., ACT) to look at your values (what's important to you) and tackle what's getting in the way of living more consistently with those values. With couples, I use the Gottman method to support you and your partner's ability to re-connect, communicate, and resolve conflict in a healthier way. With families, I use Attachment Based Family Therapy to repair ruptures between parents and their teen/adult child, especially if your relationship has been impacted by your child's depression, suicidality, gender identity, and/or sexual orientation.
