Emily Thomas, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. I utilize Reality Theory in my practice and work on the belief that if our needs are not being met, we often find distress. My goal is to help clients decrease their distress and process experiences in a way they can feel more empowered and whole. I utilize EMDR, DBT, and hypnotherapy to help clients heal from trauma and find hope in their world. I have worked a lot with trauma; abuse, neglect, religious trauma, I have seen it all. This can also lead to working with symptoms of depression and anxiety as well. I have a lot of experience helping people cope and move away from distressing symptoms. I believe that people know what they want, they just may not have the words to put to it. I help clients set small, achievable goals so they can see their progress toward bigger goals. I tend to focus on challenging clients to try different things at home to see what best fits for them in working toward decreasing their distress.
