I am Emily Stephenson, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Wisconsin. I do my best to create a nonjudgmental and safe space for clients to explore themselves and practice curiosity regarding mental health symptoms. I usually meet with individuals struggling with trauma/PTSD symptoms, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and couples. I offer an eclectic approach to therapy, including treatment strategies from Narrative Therapy, DBT, and Person-Centered Therapy. I use a somatic and mindfulness-based approach to treatment and tend to rely heavily on self-compassion to combat self-judgment. I work with mostly adults who struggle with trauma symptoms, relational difficulties, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and eating disorders. I am also the type of therapist who gives "homework" outside of sessions to help clients apply what they learn about themselves in therapy. Working with me you will know that I am gentle and direct. I am also knowledgeable, caring, understanding, and humble. I know things about families, psychology, and relationships, but my clients are the experts on their own lives. I collaborate with my clients to lead them to their goals.
