Life is inevitably painful, and none of us make it through without incurring some wounds along the way. Some wounds are fresh, reflective of present life circumstances – a recent loss, strained relationship, a multitude of stress and worries. Other wounds are old and have been carried a long time, rooted in past experiences and impacting us today through ongoing patterns of behavior and ways of relating to self and others. Left unattended, these wounds (new or old) may lead to a number of distressing symptoms and much suffering. Like physical wounds, emotional wounds need to be seen and acknowledged, cleaned and dressed to heal. Through therapy, we can come to understand ourselves and our experiences differently, find meaning, discover hope, and realize we are not alone. In that process, where there was once an open wound, a scar can form – different than what was – stronger, more resilient, reflective of learned wisdom and growth, which can help guide us as we go forward in life. I consider it a privilege to walk with clients on life’s path, and strive for them to feel understood, supported, and challenged. My work entails helping clients deepen their understanding of themselves – who they are, why they do what they do, and how to live a more intentional, fulfilling life. Change is possible. There is always hope. Please reach out.
