I have been in practice for over 20 years, but continue to value learning and evolving, and I find it a sacred honor, as a therapist, to be invited to act as a guide on a journey that isn't, ultimately, mine. Licensed by the state of Colorado as a counselor, I practice with the educational background of a BA in Psychology, and an MA in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education. As a person-focused therapist, I believe the relationship of trust and safety between client and therapist creates the necessary catalyst for growth and change. Additionally, I believe in providing observation, challenge, homework, psychoeducation. Theoretically, I work from a systemic model with couples and families, using the research and approaches stemming from The Gottman Institute, and from Attachment Theory. Individually, I approach the therapeutic process using the theories and models of Internal Family Systems (i.e. we are all made up of many parts of ourselves. Additionally I draw heavily in all of my work, from the research of Dr. Brene Brown, on developing and increasing emotional intelligence, and eliminating the toxicity of shame. I believe strongly in neuroplasticity (we really can change), and our ability to integrate new ways of being.
