About

I imagine you as someone who wants to take that first brave step, but who is feeling wary, "stuck", and perhaps discouraged, by past attempts at therapy in which you did not feel accepted, understood, or helped. I envision you as someone who wants a safe place to be yourself, while you work on issues that get in the way of being your best self. I believe that you want a therapist who can be a warm, compassionate harbinger of hope who will listen to your goals and steer you toward successful achievement of those goals

For thirty years, I've been dedicated to helping my clients capitalize on their own unique strengths in order to cope more adaptively with life's stressors, losses, and transitional challenges. I work from a psychodynamic perspective, but I draw on many techniques from my "therapeutic toolbox", in order to personally tailor treatment to YOU.

I understand how difficult it can be to reach out and make that first phone call to me. Grounded in clinical experience, and informed by life experience, my style is characterized by warmth, compassion, and a healthy dose of humor. I strive to create a relaxed and safe setting in which trust and self-disclosure can flourish, from that very first call.
