My approach to therapy is one of empowerment and self-discovery. I emphasize working with individual, couples and families in a collaborative environment to help them realize their inner strength and resiliency. With the use of self-exploration and mindfulness techniques clients discover how to overcome and work through the issues or areas of need that are currently affecting them. I place equal emphasis on the individual, as well as the systems in our lives and how the two of them combine to shape the person we are today. I use curiosity and exploration in order to help people tell their stories. I look to understand how the people and events in their lives have helped shape the person they are today. Then through processing and mindfulness I try to help disrupt the negative stories and help people write new healthier preferred ones. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the most important tool in therapy. As a result I place a large emphasis on getting to know individuals beyond what brings them into the therapy room. I look to treat all individuals with the respect and compassion that they deserve.
