You may feel a sense of stuck-ness, a deep dissatisfaction that makes it hard to get up in the morning. Maybe your brain won't shut up and keeps racing ahead to the next worry, the next fearful thought. One thing's for sure: You want someone to talk to about what's going on, who knows what it's like to feel painfully down and stressed out. Someone who can help you get back on track to a more enriching and rewarding life. I've worked with people struggling with depression, anxiety, substance abuse and relationship issues in a supportive, open way that respects clients' autonomy and values. I try to take a customized approach to each client depending on their needs. This may include looking at early life relationships and issues; cognitive-behavioral therapy; as well as mind-body practices such as meditation and mindfulness that neuroscience has increasingly validated. I used to ask, how can I treat, or cure, or change this person? But like the great therapist Carl Rogers, these days I'm more likely to ask: How can I provide a relationship that this person may use for their own personal growth? Let's see if we can work together to build a more rewarding life for you.
