My goal in counseling is to create a safe and collaborative environment in which an individual, couple or family can explore and make sense of how their inner experiences and relationship patterns are either restricting or fostering a greater sense of connection with themselves and others. I specialize in working with couples, adults, families with adult children, clergy or religious professionals impacted by childhood abuse and neglect, grief and loss, underdeveloped communication and conflict resolution skills, spiritual abuse and trauma, anxiety and depression, and divorce and remarriage. My counseling is informed by the psychological and developmental frameworks of attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, and family systems theory in conversation with the Christian tradition. Some of my clinical approaches include emotion-focused therapy, internal family systems, somatic experiencing and mindfulness-based practices. For clients who desire to integrate their faith in therapy, I welcome the opportunity to incorporate their spiritual beliefs.
