Gifted students tend to set high expectations and standards for themselves; are perfectionistic and become profoundly disappointed, stressed, and hopeless if they feel they have failed to measure up to their expectations. Gifted individuals are intense and sensitive. Some may view these "big emotions" as illogical, scary, and risky. They need support in balancing their interpersonal and emotional self with their intellectual and logical self. Through setting goals that are realistic and healthy, educating gifted about their overexcitabilities, introducing healthy coping strategies, and self-soothing tools prove very impactful. I hold a Master’s degree in Gifted and Talented Education from the University of Northern Colorado and a second Master’s degree in Counseling from Colorado State University. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have extensive experience working with the needs of identified Gifted children and teens. I would love to help you manage your stress, and overexcitabilities, and provide you with coping strategies that are effective in meeting the needs of a gifted individual. Through acceptance of self and a commitment to overcome the stress and anxiety that taunts you we will restore and find balance in your very busy life.
