Birtu (she/her) is a psychotherapist, organizer, and Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). Birtu believes in holistic, person-centered care and aims to create an inclusive and welcoming therapeutic environment for her clients. She views her work through an anti-oppressive lens and believes in the importance of accessible, high-quality therapeutic services. As a Black, queer woman, Birtu is passionate about assisting clients from diverse backgrounds navigate different components of their identities. In addition to individual work, Birtu enjoys working with families and couples and seeks to affirm less-traditional family structures. Birtu has experience running treatment groups and has worked with children of all ages. She is certified in Motivational Interviewing and draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy to help clients create meaningful and sustainable change. Birtu received her Master's of Social Work from Columbia School of Social Work and has a Bachelor's Degree in Classical Civilizations from University of California, Los Angeles.
