I believe that all people should be treated with kindness, dignity and respect. No one should feel less than because of any issue they have. Counseling is a process of self discovery that sometimes needs compassionate guidance to help clients uncover their inner resources. My approach to substance abuse is with the assumption that it is a co-occurring disorder. Underlying issues need to be resolved in order to have success with long term recovery. Recovery is an individual process. With therapy, goal is to bring positive and fulfilling things into one's life that are incompatible with addictive or unhealthy behaviors.
