I provide psychotherapy for individuals (adolescents, and adults), couples and families. I help individuals who are experiencing difficulties with anxiety, mood, problems with relationships, and various addictions. I work from a client-centered perspective that is both integrative, collaborative, and recovery-based (i.e., incorporates client's strengths as opposed to solely focusing on negatives or pathology). As such, I am able to draw upon my expertise in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Couples and Family Therapy to flexibly design treatment to meet the specific needs of my clients. When working with children/adolescents I consider developmental stage, cognitive ability, family and environment to better understand how therapeutic issues contribute to the child's struggles. I believe engaging with children and adolescents authentically and personally is essential for them to feel willing to be open to the therapeutic process. A commitment to innovative techniques, evidenced-based practices and scientific rigor was foundational in my training at UC Berkeley. I integrate that training with the real world understanding gained through life experience and clinical practice. My recognition that people are multifaceted and nuanced is essential to my practice.
