At some point in our lives, we will experience sadness, anger, betrayal, trauma, loss, anxiety and stress. This is the human condition, however depending on how we respond, this may be a warning that we are attaching negative thoughts to this pain and labeling it as suffering. Pain is not inevitable, suffering is optional. When we are able to change our thinking, we can change our responses to it. My intent is to create a safe space for people to explore and investigate their thoughts, resolve inner conflicts and achieve balance in their lives. With support and guidance, we have the power to end our suffering and heal. I am a professional counselor licensed in Alaska with over 15 years’ experience in both inpatient and outpatient mental health clinics. I have worked with people ranging the entire lifespan with various issues. The modalities and interventions I really enjoy using are CBT, Internal Family Systems, Synergetic Play Therapy, EMDR, Sand Tray, Polyvagal and DBT. I think the most important therapeutic tool is the ability to form positive and healthy relationships with the people I serve. My style is down to earth, warm, playful humor, and sometimes gentle confrontation when needed. The great thing about my work is witnessing the transformation, the growth, and the development and restoration of inner strength.
